Immortalised in Tennyson’s poem, the Charge of the Light Brigade remains the most famous episode of the Crimean War, but the conflict itself was far broader and more complex. Fought between Russia and an alliance of the Ottoman Empire, Britain, France, and Sardinia, the campaign was defined by strategic ambition, logistical failures, and extraordinary battlefield courage.
Written by Pete Brown, Into the Valley of Death is a comprehensive supplement for the award-winning Black Powder rules system. It provides full army lists for all forces involved in the Crimean War, alongside detailed organisational structures, uniform guides, and bespoke special rules for the iconic generals who commanded them.
The supplement also includes a full narrative of the campaign, with historically grounded scenarios covering major battles and smaller engagements — including the legendary action at Balaklava. Whether recreating grand set-piece battles or desperate cavalry charges, this book brings the Crimean War vividly to life on the tabletop.
