The Victrix Scots and Picts Archers and Crossbowmen set is a versatile collection of 24 highly detailed hard plastic miniatures, designed to represent missile troops from the Late Roman period through to the Viking Age. This set spans two key historical eras, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of Dark Ages tabletop wargaming armies.
Supplied across 6 sprues, these multipose miniatures can be equipped with either bows or crossbows, with options available for every figure. A variety of poses including shooting, loading, at rest, and just loosed allows for dynamic and realistic unit formations. Additional options such as different heads, cloaks, and hoods enable hobbyists to create diverse and characterful skirmisher units.
Historically, the Picts of northern Scotland relied on missile troops to support their infantry and to execute ambush tactics in challenging terrain. Their use of archers and possible early crossbow designs, similar to the Roman arcuballista, highlights their adaptability and tactical awareness in warfare. These elements make the set ideal for recreating historically inspired battles and scenarios.
These miniatures are suited to tabletop gamers, historical wargamers, and miniature painters looking to expand their forces with flexible ranged units. Designed for ages 14 and above, they are perfect for hobby enthusiasts who enjoy assembling, customising, and painting detailed miniatures for immersive gameplay.
